Fifty/Riley

[Fifty is a young and intelligent boy, whom came to us from a woman who had purchased him as a pup. Unfortunately she needed to move from her home into an apartment where she was forced to give him up. She used to run three miles a day with Fifty and he loved it. People would always stop them and ask if they could pet Fifty, he loved the attention.]

First night was good. At 3:30 this morning he decided he was ready to get up and play, but after getting him settled back down he slept a couple more hours. He ate breakfast, rested a bit and then we went out for a long walk and we'll be headed back out again this afternoon. He's doing really well on the leash and has been very friendly with everyone he's met around the community (both 2 & 4 legged).

He's currently sacked out in the middle of the floor, taking a late morning/early afternoon nap. As a matter of fact, I may join him ;)

I'll keep you updated!

Everything is good! I'll forward a few more pictures.

We're having a bit of a power struggle at the moment, but I expected that. He's pushing the envelope to see what all he can get away with and he's learning quickly who the pack leader really is (and it's not him)!

Everyone loves him. He's been great on walks and has been really good with the kids in my community that want to pet him and see him. He's also been good with the other dogs in the community as well. He's learned very quickly that if he pulls while on the leash, we don't go anywhere, so he typically walks next to me without fuss. If something else grabs his attention I can usually tell him "leave it" and he continues on.

I have changed his name...I just couldn't call him Fifty. His new name is Riley and he seems to respond to it just fine.

We're still working on the jumping and the mouthing and nipping he does when playing. My arms & hands look like a chew toy. LOL! But he's learning.

Just wanted to give you an update and a recent picture.

Riley is doing very well. He has completed all of his obedience training and passed his test, so he is now officially an AKC Canine Good Citizen.

I was working from home yesterday and he decided he needed to "help".  He helped by stealing my mouse pad and informed me that Sunday should be for playing with him, not working!

Hope things are going well for you and the group.

I'm thankful everyday for finding y'all and for your help in bringing Riley and I into each other's lives.

As you can see from the picture, his life is very tough! LOL! Thanks again for everything
